I absolutely Love this game aside from the graphics. It is a complete and total sandbox style game, online multiplayer, pvp, pve, and much more!
It works on older computers since the game itself is about 10 years old all together and they recently announced the beta is done and it is now free-2-play.

Includes:
-Extensive Character creation, 12 unique professions, skills, and 4 unique breeds.
-Over thousands and thousands of ALL sorts of different equipment/tools, guns, gear, clothes, armor, melee weapons.
-Can have pets and/or 'aids' for certain professions.
-Large world full of hundreds of different monsters, robots, unique bosses etc.
-Able to have body 'implants' to upgrade your character.
-Able to have you're own home/apartment, vehicles and even get married!
-Unique trade system with shops and players.
-UNLIMITED missions (that you can customize what kind of mission you want to do), also guideline quests in case those missions get boring.
-Able to create organizations, join factions, and clans; basing every player with specific ranks.
-Able to join or create 'teams' with your friends and do teamwork missions together.
-Lots of cities, villages, etc to explore.
-Able to make your own gear, clothes, armor, guns, even attach upgrades to your weapons!
-Sandbox style, do what you want, when you want, and how you want to do it.
-There are 'banks' that you are able to store you're items in.
-Capable of looting chests, people, monsters, etc.
-Large and various range of skills and lots of points each level gained to spend on.
-Only specific areas allow for pvp to take place, making the wild a little more safe, just watch out for higher skilled monsters.

EDIT: I used to play quite a lot of Runescape, but I don't think I want to play an MMO again. Too addictive!

 

I don't think it does support Linux. Though I could be wrong.
